Farewell 2010 and Season Greetings

8 days to Christmas and counting...most people are excited about Christmas but for me it’s just a normal day in a Calendar every year...the only different is I’d usually be in my home town Sabah..I may celebrate the Christmas with families or friends but this year...I’m sorry I’ll be celebrating Christmas with long-lost friends back in Sandakan...10 years of my life was spent in Sandakan and I had plenty of crazy friends back then...now after 11 years I’m going back to memory lane..honestly, I’m a bit excited about the idea of visiting Sandakan than others this year...the idea of not knowing what to expect is part of the excitement I guess...I’ve heard lot of stories about how Sandakan has developed...new interesting places..I could not resist the chances to meet up with long-lost friends as well as visiting my previous primary & secondary schools...I’m game for this!!

Looking back 2010....it is one hell of a ride...ups and downs are just part of the life cycle so don’t complain...I’d be lying if I do not have a moment I was worried about my life, career and future but I went through with open heart and huge hope I’d be just fine...I’ve got few highlights of 2010 but let’s just put them into one category- financial stability. I’m not rich as if I receive RM5000 monthly salary but I love to have an idea that life isn’t just about having lots of money or new stuffs...for me being ‘rich’ is being able to support yourself with your own expense without feeling guilty or regret of spending (spend wisely la ba..)

I was pretty cautious about work in the beginning of 2010...most probably it was just because previous year experience but I did quite well...gone through every obstacles as if I do not know what the word ‘give-up’ means to me...to challenge myself to be better than previous year is always the motivation to me although I do not have a ‘to-do/achieve list’ like most people...sometimes I felt I’m just a care-free kind of person and selfish but I love the idea of ‘mind your own business’...I had a conversation over this with a friend and I’m quite sure the friend may not able to digest this huge part of me into practice...I do not care things when they don’t matter and relate to me at all (as long as I’m fine and not disturbed) and as a reflector I will not do things that may affect people around me...fair game? helping others is different if you already knew it's not too much of help but taking care of others due to their own inability to reason life is just a waste of my time...

I do not hope for any big upheaval in 2011 but as always I will do the best of me to get the best for me...I’m pretty excited about my new mobile phone as it is so expensive for me yet due to its features, I believe it is timely to change and it's affordable for me...need to buy instant noodles supply of 3 months starting next Jan 2011..huhu..I’m flying back to Sabah on 18 Dec 2010, at 19:40 and expected to arrive at about 22:30 on the same day....will be in KK for few days before going back to Ranau then off to Sandakan just a day before Christmas also to attend friend’s wedding and etc..I’ll be back to KK for sure on 27 Dec 2010 to attend friend’s wedding and go to Tambunan as final place to visit...will decide in Tambunan either going back to Ranau or direct to KK before flying back to Penang on 2 Jan 2011...

I’d like to wish everyone a very wonderful Christmas celebration and a blast New Year 2011 party!!

May God Bless You

Cold Night

It wasn’t my highest priority and not even close to the top 5 priority list this year but I couldn’t ignore the fact that it is a convenience…

After careful thinking...I finally made up my mind...pushed the others to the bottom and brought this matter into real action…I’ve been sleeping with door opened for a few nights…I woke up sweating almost every day…at some point I had to sleep in the leaving room…I just couldn’t stand the heat anymore…

I am now able to enjoy cold night sleep with my new Panasonic air conditioner...it felt great although I feel like I’ve just wasted an amount of money when there are plenty more debts to pay…now I need to reorganize my monthly expenses to make it up…

This is my first air conditioner ever in my life so am sure you would understand how proud I feel about myself… I was imagining if I spent the money on DVDs…I could have achieved 2000 copies of DVDs in a month!!!

I’ve spent more than I should have this month!!! Bought a new air conditioner and flight tickets back to Sabah this June 3….thankfully the fight tickets for a detour weren’t so expensive…well it was RM300 lesser than the usual journey I would have taken (Penang–KK) I bought return flight tickets Penang-KL-KK…I should have bought these tickets earlier!! The usual journey is currently well over RM1000…my mistake so blame me..huhuu..

Now I have to…no! I must cut lots of bucks in June and July to recover…I should be able to do it if things go as planned…fingers crossed and blessing from God…next thing I need to keep an eye is the electricity bill! We are lucky as the electricity consumption at the house we’re renting is way below expectation (perhaps it's an average)…I really hope the new air conditioner isn’t going to cost me ridiculous charges next month…we’ll see...hehe…

Am so going to enjoy my sleep now…imagining buying a big LCD screen for my Desktop and an additional sound system to enjoy movies in my room again! Shit! That’ll be nice…feel like watching movies at Cinema..got to control myself now…hehe..temptation ni tau..

Life without it...

Sometimes I question myself of this…

My father is a retired teacher and during his era…earning over RM1500 or even over RM2000 was a big relief for a family as big as ours…6 siblings…what makes it more interesting is that how he managed that amount of salary for us…at that time I didn’t really understand the hardship or earning money but thankfully I wasn’t pampered to have all the things I wished for…perhaps the prices were a little cheap at that time compared to today's prices...Whilst in secondary school, you could buy a fried noodle with an egg for RM0.50...of that time was very delicious!

I’m absolutely 100% sure that I would not dare to have a family of my own with all financial obstacles that might occurred…frankly speaking, my earning is not that much but good enough for a single man…still I’m not dare to say I’m financially secured as a single man…..there were time I’d have extra money and I saved it for something far more important i.e. trip back to Sabah, holiday plan and emergency.....I’ve been spending my money based on priorities since a year ago and it worked out pretty good for me….well, don’t believe me though…it’s not always good…there’s always temptation and I’m thankful enough to be able to deal them quite good….except DVDs…it is the one thing that I would not dare to be taken away off me…it’s now part of me..people sometimes says, they couldn’t live without football or getting high on drug…it is almost the same case for me…I would not hesitate to be a little stingy on other items rather than stopping myself from buying DVDs (I did try a while ago and managed to skip buying DVD for only 2 months) Plus all the appetite destructions (food craving) I’ve been having….things become more easier for me to skip meal over DVDs….moreover, I’d easily get bored with something yet it never happens on DVDs…well, I'm not into shopping kind of person..buy new clothes etc when required to...good God..

Imagine this fact; an engineer with at least 2-3 years of experience would earn about RM3000 and more on monthly basis…estimation based/depending on company and field of engineering (Penang)

Monthly Expenses consist of;
House Rent, Car Installment, Utility Bills (electricity, water, astro, broadband and etc), Credit Cards, Life/Health Insurance, Entertainment (DVDs, night out, fine dining, movies and etc), Family Allocation (Parents or siblings), Own Expenses (Foods, groceries, car fuel and etc)

How much would you think this person would possibly fork out every month into saving account??

And what if that person has a family of 2 kids??
That’s the basic necessity of a normal person would have…well, some might not have Life/Health Insurance or credit card or might not even go out with friends/colleagues during weekend for a good relaxation…which indicate more money into saving??

Last couple of years ago...my salary was just “ciput”…and I wished I could have a better salary but once it got better…it doesn’t really resolve the financial although it improves the living little by little months after another…it reminds me of why most rich people would say…rich is just a title in a society but it doesn’t really up-lift your life to something extraordinary…of course you can have all the luxury but they come with higher price tags than you’ve had before...more earning means more expenses…

A draft beer of this size for the price of normal draft beer today??
This couple of weeks…my so called business is looking good…thanks to a friend because he’s willing to help me running it when I needed his help...I’d pay for his services though….hopefully things will get better and better….

Would you prefer to be rich, moderate or poor?

I’m thankful I’m at moderate level and wish I would be able to pay up all the debt soon…especially credit cards…hehe…

Emotion over money??
I know that emotion without money would not work as well....1 over 10 could probably work it out with the help of love cupids but the rest, 9 would need more than cupid to work things out...haha...living in the materialistic world now has affected our mind into believing money is everything.....*sigh*

Conquering Mount Kinabalu

It has been 2 days after the tiring but fun trip to Mount Kinabalu and Poring Hot Spring

I’d say…the trip with newly-acquaintance-friends was fun and adventurous…I had a great time getting to know new faces and new jokes…bunyi macam singa si Kuai consider joke terbaru juga..haha..you’re one hell of a girl Kuai…I don’t know how long one can survive if you were to join a hunting trip at night…haha….unique yet special..

First Day (12th Feb 2009)
First day…everyone was nervous…or was it only me? because I’m a very shy person ba...I kind of arrived earlier than expected and had to wait over 2 hours…no worries though…I wasn’t mad and nor saddened by that…not a biggie…understandable ba Kuai, Zi and Defoo yang ‘main tapuk-tapuk’ di atas bukit…haha…then ada lagi rakaman video durang di dalam kereta...haha..Earlier I had already collected the rooms’ keys (Liwagu Rest House) but I wasn’t feeling good about entering the room without the others….so I waited la kenen dengan tabah until the blue coloured Viva arrived…that early evening about 7pm, I think…we had our dinner at the nearby restaurant, opposite the junction to Kinabalu Park…if I wasn’t mistaken, it’s called Pinarata…and had a nice small ice-breaking chat…I was with Kuai, Zi, Lumis, Pinny, Bopp, Defoo and Gidong at the same table whilst the others…Mamai, Sumpitz, Gurangak, Dogoes, Tom, Nokurogia and Kupi at another table next to us (click their names to get more updates and pictures)….right after dinner, the entire members went up to the Liwagu Rest House and had a nice warm shower in the darkness…another ice breaking afterwards where each of us had to introduce ourselves to the members...then the climax of the night was a bottle of Chivas courtesy of Gurangak along with fun game of cards…

Second Day (13th Feb 2009)
As early as 6am..I woke up and washed my face...went down to the Raflesia Restaurant to have my breakfast...I was so hungry and I couldn’t bare any longer to throw some shit out of my ass….terkimut-kimut terkena air sejuk...haha…the bathroom door in our room can not be locked even closed ba..hehe..nanti terbangun orang dengar hembusan nafas dari belakang…haha…I had a decent breakfast buffet…fried rice+egg+waffle+bread+orange juice…then another cup of hot coffee with the others at the Liwagu Rest House before we spent another an hour waiting for the bus to transport us to the Timpohon Gate as well as an arrangement for porters to carry some others stuffs to our next stop at the mid-top of Mount Kinabalu….several group pictures were taken and at around 9:20am we off to the Timpohon Gate then began our journey up to Laban Rata stop…we left the Tompohon Gate at around 9:40am that morning…I was with Mamai, Tom, Sumpitz leading the way up but later after the 4th hut…there were only me and Sumpitz struggling to reach Laban Rata stop..Mamai and Tom arrived and had their lunch at Laban Rata Café about 20 minutes earlier than me and Sumpitz…if I wasn’t mistaken it was already 30 minutes past 2pm…four of us then went to the rest house where we were planned to stay/rest….had our rest/sleep whilst waiting the others to arrive…and finally at about 6pm, everyone was there resting and some chatting about about their journey up from Timpohon Gate…spent the whole night inside the rest house to get enough rest before another challenge to the Low’s Peak of Mount Kinabalu at 2:30am….Kuai Love introduced us with her friend ‘L’ and she was kind enough to prepare a decent breakfast for us (Me, Mamai, Defoo, Kuai, Zi, Tom and Nokurogia)..Thanks kio L…hehe..ada apple and orange lagi..haha…

Third Day (14th Feb 2009)
We walked from Laban Rata at about 2:30am slowly making our way up to the peak….climbing up the rocky mountain using ready made rope and several staircase to heaven was difficult enough…it was to me…and I’m pretty sure most of the members felt the same tiredness as me…except for Mamai who always looked strong..maintaininng his step towards the peak…there were me, Mamai and Dogoes when we reached the Sayat-Sayat Gate and when it was already 1km from the Low’s Peak….Dogoes was already way behind us, leaving me trying to keep up with Mamai’s pace…I failed and he left me when it was about 500m way up to the Low’s Peak…Mamai was the first to reach the Low’s Peak at about 5:20am that morning, followed by me and Dogoes couple of minutes later…then came Defoo, Sumpitz and Gurangak….Kuai was the first woman in the group to reach the Low’s Peak though…. too bad Pinny, Zi and Kopi didn’t make it to the top…at least you ladies tried kan…there’s always next time…Thanked God for the good weather we had during the whole trip up Mount Kinabalu…we were given a clear sky…bright moon and stars…calm night without any strong wind at all…..

To be continued….

I'm taking a break..

Hi chaps....I think I haven't visited my blog as often as I should these past few days...frankly speaking I was tied up with works and I wasn't feeling like penning down anything yet...Chinese New Year...Chap Goh Mei...I had them celebrated with dear friends...hung out, chatting and drinking...not much though as I was trying to reduce the amount of alcohol consumption for a rare trip to Mount Kinabalu...yes, most of you might have heard it from other fellow bloggers, especially from Lumis's blog where she introduces most of the coming-to-be-newly-acquintance-friends....I'm about to have another trip back to Sabah today at around 10:15 am from Penang International Airport...I was in Sabah a month ago and again..I'm going back to Sabah for a short+packed schedule....I wouldn't dare to say that I've prepped myself for this trip as I had just finished packing my stuff into my bag..I have not had any special gears (glove, ski-mask, torch light and etc) ready or anything....I was supposed to get them ready last weekend but I wasn't feeling like doing it...it becomes habit to me now and then...sometimes, I might change my mind about any trip at the very last minute..it happened once although I had bought the flight ticket for that particular trip...be it scary or wasting...I just don't care if I don't feel like doing it...

Still, this trip to Mount Kinabalu..I really don't know if it was my heart who agreed to join or was it just a desire to once again to feel/live the beauty of nature...I know it's going to be a fun trip and I'm hoping a good weather during the whole trip...last year, I told myself that I'm going to use this particular moment at a particular location above the sea-level to re-evalute my life..re-evalute things that had happened...things that I should be looking at or needing more attention in my present life...I just don't know how would it be but I do know that I truly need a break from workplace...I have not had any of my-moment at workplace since my return in early January...I was continuesly busy and pressured....good thing was, I wasn't even once felt stressed like most people would have, my mind is just tired...it sounds to me that I'm complaining huh...that's this crap that I've been trying to tell to myself over and over again to not ever fall off the track and just keep it up to my best...

It's now 6:25am..I'm not planning to sleep until I boarded the plane back to Sabah..there, I'll have over 2 hours of rest if I may....will be arriving in KK around noon and heading back to Ranau...spending time with my parents before the actual trip on the 12th Feb...I might try to look for all the 'missing' gears later in Ranau...well, this is not my first trip to Mount Kinabalu and there was once (2nd trip) I went up to the highest peak in SEA without any proper gears (not even a torch light..I kind of used my friend as a torch to light our way up as he had his torch light and we ended up as the first two human to arrive at the peak at dawn that day..still, arriving early was not a very good idea as we had to wait for others before we could walk our way down...silap sikit mati kesejukan menunggu..haha)....have the management installed any lights along the track? How would that be like?Would it still be adventerous?

I believe most Sabahan have not climbed the Mount Kinabalu..understandable la if you have a health complication but for those who haven't done it and you don't have any health issue...I would highly recommend to not to miss the chance to conquer the highest peak in SEA...I told my Tech Director about this trip and he's interested to know more about Mount Kinabalu...he's an out-door type of guy...cycling, rock climbing, kayaking, jungle tracking and conquering mountains around Europe...and he was kind of shocked to know the height of Mount Kinabalu (he has never climbed as high as Mount Kinabalu..)

A'ight peeps..I'm going to take a bath now and get ready before Jew wakes up....later guys!

In or Out?

It has been how many years since Malaysia was formed, still some people is not sensible enough about the existence of Sabah or Sarawak in "Malaysia" itself. This people thought that Sabah is just another country or certainly not part of Malaysia..I wonder why and what make they think that way? I wonder if it all began from school where you learn History of Malaysia, Asia and World? I wonder if there have some kind of brain-wash-program-seminar in Peninsular Malaysia that made them thinking Sabah is not part of Malaysia..

I usually don't mind if I get this from someone that I don't really know...unfortunately I got this from someone who should have knew about it as I'm her colleague...I've been working with her for over a year....been talking about Sabah (culture, community, life style and etc) with her...I'm not blaming her nor not happy with that..I'm just curious that how this idea or way of thinking exist within Malaysian community...

It began from a text message last night..I was working in the office and I received a text message from her as follow...

"Wei...U hv any frenz back in Sabah ah who r looking 4 a job in malaysia...my fren has a contract tat needs bout 100 ppl...." - Tapir Bte Tenuk, 04-11-2008 10:11 PM

After reading the message, I then replied...

"None that I knw of....y la from sabah work in malaysia...sabah is/also malaysia.." - Wel^Beiolman, 04-11-2008

I was busy consulting/supporting customer at that time but still, I could not ignore what she has to say about the text message..well I was on the phone with a customer and my right hand was holding my mobile replying a text message to wish a sweet-good-night message to someone I care...she replied...

"Oh ya...sorry ah..haha..." - Tapir Bte Tenuk, 04-11-2008 10:45 PM

With that response, I then decided not to reply and left it that way...I guess she was just not well aware of the geographical and history of Malaysia..that's all kan...So, back to my curiosity...can someone tell me why some of this too-proud-to-be-Malaysian or this stupid-moron-Malaysian thinks Sabah is no part in Malaysia...if Sarawak..I can understand as we need to use passport (especially people coming from peninsular) to enter the state and will be given a visitation visa.....correct me if am wrong ah..never been to Sarawak lagi ni..but that's what I heard from people who had been there...could it be the history text books used in schools around Peninsular Malaysia are differ to the ones we use in Sabah? I wonder.....

Save the coins..save the world

Officially, today is my first day off in the year 2008..2 weeks ago, for the first time since 1st Jan 2008, I applied a day off on 27th June 2008..Last month I'd mentioned about my day leave/holiday in 22 Days 22 Nights which I had never ever yet applied..now I did.. Actually I wasn't planning to apply any but I received a call from my sister saying she's coming to Penang with my other half-brother (he's being taken care of by my mom's sister since he was born..due to medical incompetency to have a baby)..he had just received an offer for a course at UiTM Arau, Perlis and due to register tomorrow 28th June 2008..however..on Monday, my sister again sent a text message saying they may not come this Friday..What!!!! She explained why...then I called my half-brother asking more details of the story I've just heard from my sister.. he is waiting for the result of his application for a 5 years course to be a teacher expected to be released on 1st July..the course is complete with a degree course.....compared to the offer he has received in UiTM, this is far more assuring and promising....the course in UiTM is a diploma course...well he had just finished his SPM....therefore, I have an extra day for my weekend!

When I was doing the merging and compiling my Radio.Blog earlier, it came to my mind to count how much coins do I have..again, I have nothing to do or planned to do other than the Radio.Blog..so why not doing it? a'ight.... then when I started counting..grouping..partitioning etc...I became lazy to continue because at the same time I was doing the Radio.Blog as well.....I decided to just send them to a bank..Anyway, I'd always send them to a bank after about 3 months..either as permanent saving or temporary saving..temporary saving maksud dia kasi masuk terus p ATM then cucuk kad..ha..ha..this had became my habit since 1 year ago...keep as many coins then save them in my saving account....there was once I saved 4 months coins and the amount was surprisingly huge..it was over RM350....perhaps because most of the coins I kept that time was a 50 cent coin...another way of saving juga kan...save the coins save the world..LoL..this time I managed to go over RM250..aha..mostly 10 cent..not bad juga la..Later tonight..we're going to have aramai tie session...Mr. Jew has just came from Sabah (last Sunday) so he brought with him couple of bottles of his Family business in Ranau, Sabah..that is Lihing (Sabah Rice Wine)..I'll update you guys later on his Lihing..Enjoy your evening and weekend!!
